On July 24, 2022, the national standard drafting meeting of Metallographic Examination of carbon steels and low alloy steels cast for general engineering and structural purposes was held in Changzhou city, Jiangsu Province. The meeting was held by the Subcommittee 1 on Cast Steels of National Technical Committee 54 on Foundry of Standardization Administration of China(SAC/TC54/SC1). The meeting was chaired by Secretariat of National Technical Committee 54 on Foundry of Standardization Administration of China.

National standard of Metallographic Examination of carbon steels and low alloy steels cast for general engineering and structural purposes was the program of the forth batch of standards development in 2020 issued by Standardization Administration of China on December 24, 2020. This standard is formulated for the first time, drafted by Shenyang Research Institute of Foundry Co., Ltd. 

The meeting mainly discussed the draft standard for comment seriously, and the participating experts listened to the introduction of the standard development, and put forward some suggestions on the technical content.

This standard is a basic casting standard, which is used to conduct the production and inspection of steel casting enterprises and related enterprises, improve the technical level of steel castings production.
